Genealogy Resources

The Siuslaw Public Library has a small, but growing collection of genealogical materials and is the repository for the Siuslaw Genealogical Society’s collection.  Included are reference materials, how-to books, periodicals, CDs, and more.

The library subscribes to Heritage Quest Online, which provides U.S. census records from 1790 to 1930, over 20,000 full text family and county histories, PERSI, and Revolutionary War pension records.  This database is available to Siuslaw Public Library patrons only, both from home as well as from within the library.

The library also subscribes to Heritage Trail Press which provides a wealth of Oregon history resources, including scanned images of historical newspapers, BLM and Metzger maps, church records, city directories, and more.  This database is only available from within the library.

A small computer work station in the library is dedicated to genealogy and local history research.  The library has a microfilm reader and scanner as part of the work station.

For more information on starting your genealogy research, see the Siuslaw Genealogical Society’s website.
